GIS Specialist

Full-Time Contract Position (12-18 months | Parental Leave)

We are currently looking for an individual to join our team as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist who possesses a solid understanding of ecological principles. The successful candidate will have an interest in learning and supporting new methods and applications for ecological projects, an ability to complete projects and initiatives, be self-motived, and willing and open to working across a range of tasks (basic to more complex). A strong GIS skillset paired with a foundation in ecological principles and practices is a requirement of this position. We are a small company, so willingness to contribute to other tasks as needed is critical. The successful candidate will have strengths in the following key areas:

In this position, the candidate will provide project support (cartography, data support / management, spatial analysis, statistics), provide input to proposals (based on experience) and explore and bring in new methods, analyses, coding efficiencies, etc. to the business. This role is primarily office-based, however opportunities for occasional site visits and travel for field work and/or meetings may be identified to support other activities and staff.

Degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Geography, Geomatics, or a related field combined with technical experience in GIS is required.

Pay will be commensurate with experience and capability.
